How Does Snorepro work?
Understanding what causes snoring is the first step to stopping snoring. An understanding of the physiology and biology behind what causes snoring allows you to fully compare the stop snoring devices available, and choose the best for your personal circumstances.
Snoring is a complicated thing. Many ‘snoring cures’ work by treating the most obvious symptom only. However, in order to really succeed in stopping snoring, you must understand what is happening, and therefore, what must be done to really get to the heart of the issue. What is snoring? Snoring is the vibration of the soft tissue in the throat vibrating as the air passes during breathing. Every individual snores in a different way; from a sporadic snort to a continuous drone.
So how does snoring occur?
Normally during sleep, the muscles which control the lower jaw and tongue keep the airway open – allowing the sleeper to breathe freely and quietly. You will often hear snoring blamed on smoking, drinking alcohol, over eating, sleeping pills or even sleeping on overly soft pillows.
When these muscles relax the jaw drops and the tongue falls back. The airway becomes narrower, which causes snoring and breathing difficulties.
Snoring is the vibration of the air and soft tissue as the air passes through the restricted airway. This is true even when the snoring seems to come from the nose.
If these muscles relax too much the airway can become completely blocked, preventing breathing. This is called Obstructive Sleep Apnoea.
Sleep apnoea can cause headaches and tiredness in sufferers, as the blocked airway prevents oxygen from reaching the lungs and bloodstream. These closures can last anything from a couple of seconds to two minutes. This may happen from one or two times a night to many times an hour, and for those witnessing it, may be quite alarming.
How does Snorepro solve the problem?
Snorepro prevents the tongue from blocking the airway by holding the lower jaw closed and slightly forward of its normal position.
Snorepro works whether you breathe through the mouth or the nose. A Snorepro can be adjusted to obtain maximum comfort and effect.
